The ‘look’ of a film is decided on set and in post-production.
It’s important to be aware of both so that you can choose the most effective, efficient and cost-effective workflow to get the best results.
Since the final look will be decided through grading during the editing process, it’s crucial to shoot with that in mind.
As a cinematographer I have always taken a keen interest in the grading aspect of my work.
I have spent many hours with colourists in various DaVinci Suites to gain expertise.
Over the last few years, I have added colour-grading to my editing skills, and I can now offer full shoot and grade packages as a cinematographer and DaVinci colourist.
Have a look at an example of what I mean in this short film “ Monitor” by Peter Fraser.
